Back in the day, if you wanted to experience the speed and performance of a Lambo, you had to splash out on a supercar and deal with the impracticalities and running costs. In this day and age there is a solution to this dilemma.
Let me introduce you to the four-door saloon known as the Mitsubishi Evo. This rally-bred, computerised monster has a complex four-wheel-drive system which is out of this world. In this video, Jeremy Clarkson has the Evo travelling sideways whilst steering with one finger and states that the car is “almost impossible to crash.” So with the cornering all under control how about the performance? British engineers have managed to extract 400 BHP from the 2 litre engine, which results in a 0-60 time of just 3.5 seconds. That’s pretty rapid!
So how does it compare to the v12 570 BHP Lamborghini on the track? British Touring Car champion James Kay gets behind of the wheel of the Lambo with the self-proclaimed “fat man in a four-door saloon” Clarkson in hot pursuit. Check out the video to see if the Murcielago can shake off the Mitsubishi in this classic 2009 Top Gear video clip.
